Pisco Sour - The Classic Signature Cocktail of Peru
This elegant cocktail was developed in 1916 by bar proprietor Victor Morris at the Morris Bar in Lima – Peru. Since its inception the Pisco Sour became popular amongst the establishment imbibers. Upon Morris’ death in 1929, bartenders moved to prominent bars in the famous hotels of downtown Lima and certainly they took the cocktail with them. In time, the Pisco Sour became a national emblem for Peru. In the 1930’s the recipe had evolved into the recipe we know today and the credit is given to the Morris bar disciples that found home at the Hotel Maury.
